Stop The Violence: "Campus reacts to anti-Greek letter"

Date
September 19, 1991

This front-page story from The Dickinsonian discusses an anonymous
newsletter that was circulated the week prior entitled "Stop The
Violence." The publication "fired serious allegations at the
fraternities [and sororities], including hazing and rape, and demanded:

1)
All fraternities and sororities immediately investigate
and end all forms of hazing and ritualized violence within their organizations

2)
The College investigate and prosecute any act if
ritualized violence

Several groups and individuals reacted to this, including the President of
the InterFraternity Council (Hank Boye,92), Panhellenic Council President (Diane
Walton, 92), Beta Theta Pis Resident Advisor (Jacob Petersheim), Dean of
Educational Services and Student Affairs (Carmen Neuberger) and Professor
Thomas Reed of the English Department. The Womens Center denied responsibility
for the letter.
