"Mysterious Code for Co-Eds" was published in the 1911 Microcosm complaining about the use of words by the co-eds on campus. Apparently, the college community was becoming "quite disgusted with the enormous amount of slang used by the co-eds of the institution." Some of the words being used by the co-eds that confused the college community were 'dead swell,' 'nifty,' 'hot brick' and 'nobby.' The men of the campus are intimidated by this new language as it is coming from their "neat, little innocent co-eds." The Microcosm then developed a new method of vernacular, which they published in the hopes that the co-eds would use this instead.
