The April issue of the Womens Newsletter features an editorial regarding the armed forces and a panel discussion sponsored by Dickinsons R.O.T.C. about œWomen in the Army. The author reviews the panels discussion, which was to be about career opportunities in the army but quickly œbecame centered around the ˜morality of war question". Many negative attitudes towards the military surfaced during the discussion because of different attitudes regarding the Vietnam War. The author says that is necessary œto rid ourselves of our snobbish attitudes towards the military long enough to examine the opportunities it offers, especially for women. The article reports that the Army is trying œto set an example for the country by adopting the Equal Rights Amendment into all of its practices, benefits and pay are equal and promotion is based on service and not sex.
