The Carlisle Sentinel reports in its February 9, 1993
edition on the upcoming exhibit entitled "The Clothesline Project" which
appeared at Dickinson and displayed T-shirts made by women who were
victims of abuse or violence in the central Pennsylvania area.

In the October 22, 1992 edition of The Dickinsonian, Vikram
Dhawer reports on the coming events of the third annual Rape Awareness
Week as well as rape statistics for the world and Dickinson College.

The October 29, 1991 issue of the Carlisle Sentinel announced the events at Dickinson for Rape Awareness week, sponsored by the Women's Center and the Sexuality Resource Group, which included a play by the Awareness Act touring group and a "Take Back the Night" rally and march.

of the Women's Center, describing it as a place of comfort for all.

Dickinson hosted a week of events surrounding National Coming Out Day in
1996 entitled "Self, Family, World: Continuing the Struggle for
Acceptance."  The events included a debate over gay marriage, a showing
of the movie Go Fish, a discussion led by the Mechancisburg
Chapter of P-FLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays), a lecture

In 1972 on October 5, 6 and 8, Dickinson held a seminar on women in
coordination with the Bicentennial Homecoming the same weekend.  The
seminar was "designed to examine the political, educational, legal, and
social conditions in our society which sometimes tend to reduce women's
participation as full partners with men in many aspects of life."  It was the first seminar on women ever held at Dickinson
and included a play by the Mermaid Players, speeches, workshops and
exhibits.  C. Delores Tucker, Secretary of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, was the major speaker. 

In June of 1976, Dickinson's Continuing Education Program, in cooperation
with the Department of Communications and Development, held a one day
seminar addressing estate planning, wills, the equal rights amendment,
joint tenancy, divorce and separation, and career placement, which
included seminars led by Jane Alexander, Bonnie Douglass Menaker and
John Munschauer.

This Dickinsonian article discusses Rape Awareness Week that began with "Take Back the Night", a march through the dining hall which culminated in a "speak out" in the HUB.

This photo depicts Deborah Siegel, class of 1972, reading the names of soldiers killed in the Vietnam War. This demonstration protested America's involvement in the war.
