Presidents' Council Minutes: Dress Codes, Cold-weather Exceptions, Smoking, and Frat-Parties

Date
January 10, 1962

During the Presidents' Council (Women's Interdormitory Council) meeting of January 10, 1962 several important issues were brought up involving dress code, curfews, and late permissions, as well as women smoking:

  • "Dorm Reports: The request was brought from Metzger that the freshman girls be allowed to wear slacks to campus on cold Days. Presidents' Council granted the request. The privilege will be withdrawn if it is abused.
  • Dining Hall: There was a discussion about girls wearing improper dress to the dining halls. House councils were asked to discuss solutions to this problem. The question was raised about smoking at the head table in Morgan Hall. Dean Wishmeyer said she would speak to those concerned.
  • Announcements: The Dean asked for consideration about noise in the dormitories during finals. All women will have 1 a.m. permissions Friday, Feb. 2 in order to attend fraternity rushing parties."
