Rivalry among sororities during World War II

Date
Fall 1990

Christine Crist (Class of 1946) tells about the rivalry among sororities during the World War II period. As a pledge mistress and, later, president of Chi Omega, she spent a lot of her free time planning sorority events. She organized an alumni event for the 50th anniversary of the founding of Chi Omega. She reports that there were rivalries among sororities: when she lived in the Phi Delt house as the only Chi Omega, she would "feel a hush when I'd go into the bathroom."Her sorority had a brother-sister relationship with the Kappa Sig fraternity, one of the founders of Chi Omega, before fraternities "disappeared" from campus due to the war.
